The Secret Truth Of ‘Brian’s Skyline’ Scene in End Of Fast 9 is Revealed!

The majority of the Fast and Furious franchise’s multibillion-dollar instalments conclude with Dom’s motley group gathered around a BBQ drinking cold Coronas, if you’ve watched any of the prior editions.

The actor who played Brian O’Conner, Paul Walker, tragically passed away in a Porsche Carrera GT crash during the filming of Furious 7, but with the aid of his brothers (and CGI), they were able to finish the movie. As a result, O’Conner was conspicuously absent from the BBQ in the eighth instalment.

O’Conner received the happy ending that Walker never received thanks to the franchise: he left the charitable crime family and now spends his days in Miami. Walker makes his final Fast appearance at the conclusion of Furious 7 as he drives off into the sunset with a montage of O’Conner moments over the years, all set to the Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth song “See You Again.” Furious 7 has such a heartfelt conclusion that if you don’t cry a little, you don’t have any heart.

O’Conner is only briefly addressed in F8: Fate of the Furious, but his existence is more prominently acknowledged in F9. Hold on, there’s still an empty spot at the BBQ, Dom says as they prepare to sit down and say grace. He’s on the way, Mia says. After that, we see O’Conner’s Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R from Fast & Furious enter the driveway. And then the credits start to roll before we see who leaves.

Does this imply that Brian O’Conner will appear more frequently in the final two Fast and Furious movies? Regarding Brian’s future in the Fast universe, director Justin Lin stated the following to Variety:

“The concept that Brian O’Connor is still alive in this reality has a significant and profound effect. This is the first time I’ve approached Fast 9 artistically when we’ve discussed it as more than just one movie. I’ve always believed that if we are fortunate enough to do one thing, we should try our hardest to do it. However, Vin persuaded me to do it when I returned, saying, “Well, let’s think about it as a last chapter.” Therefore, Fast 9 actually marks the start of the story’s last chapter. As a result, I believe there is plenty of room to really place our characters, and Brian is still obviously a significant part of the universe.”

So, the door is still open for O’Conner to come back. And even his brothers have expressed in the past their desire for O’Conner to be a part of the series as they did in Furious 7.

Will O’Conner appear in Fast 10 and 11 like a CGI Princess Leia did in Rogue One? Anything is possible because we’re talking about a series that revived Han because he was a fan favorite.
